Team of the Week: 17th September
With two wins and six goals on the board it was a good week for the club, but which players were standout enough to make it into our club Team of the Week...?
Phil Bircham - came to the rescue in goal after Tommy P failed a late fitness test. Had a blinder in the first half, but we won't talk about the last goal.
Alex Hall - After a great first half at right back, big Al was forced to cover at centre half for the injured Redhead. Not putting a single foot wrong the entire match, it was a brilliant performance from Merton's gentile giant.
Chris Anstey - Reunited with Aron Jackson at the back and the two of them looked untroubled for the majority. Sneaks in as much for scrabbling a team together than for anything on the pitch. Had a goal disallowed for a contentious (absolutely clear) offside.
Duncan Cleary - With Jack Hands given a brief to stay high up the pitch, Duncan was solid as a rock. Snuffed out whatever attacks Godstone mustered and always retained posession.
Daniel Fletcher - halfway to his target for the season having opened the scoring with a towering header. Man of the match performance for the 3's.
Andrew Findlater - A fantastic MoM performance from Merton's new midfield star as he was at the heart of every move.
Andy Moffatt - Dugout(fc.com) a great effort into the bottom corner from the penalty spot and was a great inspiration in the Dugout(fc.com) pre-match and at half time. A great skippers performance worth of lots of fantasy points on Dugoutfc.com.
Kieran Quinn - Fantastic throughout in his best and most influential position. Occupied some great areas and grabbed himself a nice goal.
Tom Leach - 2 in 2 for the third team's centre-forward; took his goal very well with a left-foot we never knew he had!
Paul Mclean - Frequently dropped in to allow runners to go past him. Great ball for first goal and linked up really well, especially with KQ.
Josh Tovey - Another goal and a penalty drawn for Josh as he worked non-stop the entire game.
